Velika Peč

PANORAMIC SUMMITS
The rocky outcrop of Velika Peč was once used as a flag hoist and a take-off point for paragliders, but today it offers a breathtaking view of the village and the rugged Idrija-Cerkno area, with its many ridges and valleys, and all the way to the capital city of Ljubljana.
Reaching the starting point: From the direction of Ljubljana, drive to Logatec, then towards Godovič. When you reach Godovič, take the second exit (Črni Vrh) at the roundabout. From Črni Vrh, drive toward Col. After seven hairpin turns, pay attention to the first sharp turn left. Turn onto the gravel road to the hamlet of Šajsna Ravan, where you can park along the road.
Trail description: From Šajsna Ravan, take the steep gravel forest road uphill to Čelkov Vrh, which is only a half hour of slow walking away. Only 5 minutes away from Čelkov Vrh, hiding behind the trees, is Velika Peč: a rocky outcrop that was once used as a flag hoist and a take-off point for paragliders, but today it offers a breathtaking view of the village and the rugged Idrija-Cerkno area, with its many ridges and valleys, and all the way to the capital city of Ljubljana, northeast from here. From Čelkov Vrh, take the path leading to the northwest and you will soon reach a cleading with a building. Continue a few 100 meters on the gravel road and pay attention to see the narrow path branching off to your right. In a minute or two, this trail will lead you through the forest to Velika Peč.
