Reaching the starting point: From Ljubljana, drive towards Idrija. In Idrija, turn left at the third traffic light into the centre of Idrija.
From Tolmin, drive towards Idrija. In Idrija, drive straight ahead in the main crossroads toward the town centre.
You can park on the parking lot above the garage of a shopping mall (free of charge) or on the parking lot to the left of the main bus station.

Trail description: From the parking lot, follow the road that leads to the town centre. Follow directions for Vojsko, past Anthony’s Main Road. You will reach the crossroads where the signpost leads left to Vojsko – go past it and past the famous Idrija bar 3×3. Just behind it, a blaze will lead you left through the narrow streets of Idrija toward Hleviška Planina. At the last houses of Čopičeva ulica, you can enjoy in a beautiful view of a large part of the town, while the road turns into a gravel road that will take you uphill to a nearby forest road that you reach at a small chapel on a crossroads. Turn right (straigh ahead is the Pšenk forest road) and you will very soon reach the next crossroads. Continue left on a steep path with markings for a hunting trail – lovska pot (if you continue straight ahead, you can reach Hleviška Planina via Kodrov Rovt). After a short steep ascent through a forest, the path becomes flatter. After a few minutes of traversing to your left, you will reach a relatively new forest trail that will lead you to a crossroads of several gravel roads. Continue to you right onto a wide footpath that will gradually ascend through the forest, past a wild garlic site, and past a bench, further to your left. Higher up, you will reach a small ridge with the path leading slightly to the right and uphill. After a short steep ascent, you will reach a poorly maintained forest road that you follow to the right. Higher up, you will join a wider gravel road that will soon lead you to a marked crossroads where you will be joined by the road via Kodrov Rovt). Continue straigh ahead on the road that is closed for public traffic. It will soon lead you out of the forest. Follow it until you reach the Hleviška Planina hut (5 minutes). Movement-impaired persons can ask for the ramp to be opened so that they can drive to the hut.
The hike from the hut to the top will take you another 15 minutes. Continue ascending on the marked trail that enters the forest and goes steeply uphill. It will first lead you along the ridge, then gradually flatten out in a small valley, through which you will reach the top of Hleviška Planina.

Trail option: If the hunting trail (lovska pot, see above description) leads you to a parking lot, continue a few more meters on the road to Slanice, then follow blazes that will direct you to the ridge path. For a while, the path is flat, then begins descending until you reach a forest trail that leads to a sledding track. During the winter, this forest road is used for sledding; if there is enough snow, competitions are organised, too. At Pringl, turn left, and descend the Čopova ulica to return to Idrija. This circular hike will take approximately 3 hours.
